As an adapter protein, CRADD forms a PIDDosome complex with PIDD1 and CASP2, activates CASP2 and initiates apoptosis. It also recruits CASP2 to the TNFR-1 signaling complex in the tumor necrosis factor-mediated pathway, interacting with RIPK1 and TRADD.
