Vanillic acid (4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid) is a flavoring agent which is also an intermediate in the production of vanillin from ferulic acid. Vanillic acid inhibits NF-kappaB activation. Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and chemopreventive effects.
