Streptavidin is a biotin-binding protein found in the culture broth of the bacterium Streptomyces avidinii. Like its namesake avidin, streptavidin binds 4 moles of biotin per mole of protein with a high affinity virtually unmatched in nature (Kd~10-15).
Purity:
Purified by ion exchange chromatography. Assay by IEP demonstrated a single precipitin arc against anti-beta galactosidase (E. coli) and anti-streptavidin. No crossreactivity was observed against anti-avidin.

Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 0.01M magnesium chloride, 0.01M Beta-Mercaptoethanol, 10mg/ml BSA (IgG and Protease free), 0.01% sodium azide. Labeld with Beta Galactosidase (E.coli)
