What drives the severe tissue damage

A subset of COVID-19 patients experience cytokine storm syndrom with elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines in the lungs, leading to tissue damage. To assess these cytokines, researchers can use multiplex assays, like BioLegend's LEGENDplex™, to quantitate the factors made in response to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Understanding what drives severe tissue damage during COVID-19 infection will better help us understand how we can fight the disease.
